Week 2 Term 1: Poetry & Introductions

Hello, welcome back to my blog! Today, I'm going to be talking about my work as always! So, this week, we've been working on Poetry! Here's a sample of my Identity Poem!

"Martin
Boring, Curious, Enthusiastic, Smart
Younger brother to Stanley and Joseph
Roblox, Holidays, Friends
Feels happy collecting seasonal items in games
Afraid of being alone
Would like to see Steven Universe on Netflix
Stanton"

It's a poem about who I am, and what I like. Everyone did the same thing, so it's not very unique, but it's still good. I also have been working on my All About Me slide! You can see it here! That about wraps up this week's blog post! thank you for coming around, and I'll see you next week!

Block of the week: Dragon Egg

Dragon Egg.png

Welcome to my new series, Block of the week. I will be showcasing one minecraft block per week! Let's get into it!

The block of the week today is the Dragon Egg! The rarest block in the game! This dragon egg was added in the update of beta 1.9 prerelease 6 and has rarely had an update since the day it was released.

The dragon egg is one of the unbreakable blocks in the game, as you cannot break it with a pickaxe or any other tool. Every time that you try and mine the egg it teleports to a close space around you. You can use a piston to break it, and once you have it in your inventory you get the achievement "The Next Generation"

Only one dragon egg will spawn per world, and you can only get the dragon egg if you kill the enderdragon, a hard boss to beat from the start! Thank you for reading this post, and I'll see you next time!

Your Achievement

Week 2 Term 3 Reflection: Jake Bailey

Today, we were taken into the library and we got to meet Jake Bailey, a public speaker who had cancer for around 5 months and lived to tell the tale. The type of cancer he had is called Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of cancer that is the fastest spreading cancer in the world. He lost 2/3 of his body weight, went through months of chemo-therapy, and he made it out the other side.

He told us about alot of things he learnt while in chemo-therapy, like, not worrying about the small things too much, that being grateful is a good skill to have, that happiness is a skill that you have to learn, and that to gain resilience, you have to power through the bad times and don't let it get to you too much.

He was confident, respectful, nice, and so many other things. It really shows that a near-death experience can change a human for the better. He's an amazing role-model and he seems like a great person to know.
